It happened...
A few years ago I was in the market for a toaster oven. I knew I didn’t want anything that was a pain to clean or cheaply made. Blah blah research, now how does this relate to technology and what not.
Well I did some research and gave myself a budget and some things to stick to. Size, cost, features and reviews. Long story short I got a pretty cool toaster oven that can handle 10in pizza!
Fast forward to 2020 and I get caught up in the air fryer craze. I did my research and settled on something that was pretty inexpensive and with a price drop by 20% without any coupons. This was just a plain sale that the store was offering.
I get home and do the standard appliance prep cleaning and letting a run before I first use to get rid of the chemical smell. Well, I made two types of fries, sweet potato and russet. I also used the air fryer to make apple chips.
They were edible but horrible! Using an air fryer is not just drop it in and go….
None of the reviews I came across went into detail about how you will have to “tweak” your temperature settings. Meh..Just a small setback.
Nothing will stop me from having endless supply of apple chips and fries.
I got up the next morning determined to “break in the young colt”. I Plugged it and and started slicing an apple. I took my time and ran through the printed manual a few more times.
I insert the basket/tray into the fryer and there is no click and no light indicating that it should start cooking…That’s odd…It’s plugged in and the and outlet is good…
After fiddling with it for a bit I realized the latch that secures the basket/try into the fryer broke.
Without the latch working it won’t signal to the fryer that it’s time to start cooking….
Needless to say I returned it….
I’m probably going to wind up getting an Air Fryer that can replace my toaster oven.
I’m not sure I will just yet. My toaster oven is pretty decent and handles frozen fries just fine.
And I’ll be OK without homemade apple chips.
The same thing happens with tech. We get caught up in a fad/craze and don’t think things through.,
Do I really need a new laptop or do I just want one?
Is this something I will using frequently enough?
Do I already own something(s) that do the same things?
My toaster oven is only a few years old, I don’t need another appliance.
What I need is to find the best way to make comfort foods in my toaster oven.
